Must-see experiences in Courchevel

September 15, 2021·France

Every serious skier and mountain enthusiast knows it: Courchevel is one of the most famous resorts in the world, both for its five villages, its breathtaking scenery and its ski area. For those lucky enough to be able to get there, Courchevel offers a list of luxurious or unusual activities that are out of the ordinary. Ikeys has listed the 5 must-dos for you.

  1. Skiing in the 3 valleys

  2. Take the helicopter to go snowmobiling

  3. Go paragliding

  4. Go for a walk on the banks of the Roisère lake

  5. Dine at the Brasserie Laroche

Skiing in the 3 Valleys

Located in the 3 Valleys area, Courchel has the largest skiable area in the world to play with. It is difficult to do the whole thing unless you come back a few years in a row, but there are no less than 327 slopes available to skiing enthusiasts. Beyond the diversity of levels and activities possible on the whole domain, it is the landscapes that are offered to the skier's eyes that leave you breathless with admiration, especially from the highest point at the Sauliré, where you can admire perhaps the most beautiful view of the Mont-Blanc and the Grandes Causses.

Take the helicopter to go hiking

About a hundred hikes of all levels are accessible from Courchevel. The unforgettable experience in our opinion is to access some of them by helicopter. Not only will you discover the majestic panorama of the Alps from a unique angle, but you will also be able to take advantage of the multitude of options available to you to explore the mountain sides: a series of guides offer you the chance to explore the snowy forests and peaks by snowmobile or with sled dogs. For the more athletic, it is possible to hike for several days thanks to the network of huts that are available.

Paragliding

The idea of paragliding quickly came to the minds of the holidaymakers as they watched the skies filled with dozens of sails floating in the middle of the Alps. And it is indeed one of the most beautiful activities to do in the region, but even more specifically in Courchevel. Again, the panorama accessible from the air is unique, and the feeling of floating above the 3 Valleys area gives the feeling that time has stopped.

Go for a walk on the banks of the Rosière lake

Accessible to beginners, the lake of La Rosière offers a poetic interlude to the holiday makers. You have to cross a huge fir forest to get there, and the lake itself is located in the middle of the mountains. Continue the walk to the Châlet du Lac to rest or have a meal: the site is simply magical.

Dinner at 1947

To conclude, we must speak about the arts of the table, well honored in Courchevel, and magnified in particular by the restaurant 1947, of Yannick Alléno. Five tables, three Michelin stars, a striking modernist decor by Sybille de Margerie and dishes of exceptional quality where creativity magnifies the products of Savoy, rich in quality local products.

Located in the Cheval Blanc Hotel, the restaurant owes its name to its most prestigious vintage, and has existed since 2008 and was awarded in 2010, and has not lost a star since. It is the best culinary experience that can be had in the Alps.
